The 22 anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks is Monday and will be marked by events across the country including one that begins at 8:25 a.m. ET at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza in New York City.

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to attend the ceremony.

The plaza is where the two World Trade Center towers stood before terrorists highjacked commercial jets and crashed two into the towers.

Four jets in total were highjacked – one of the others was crashed into the Pentagon and the fourth was taken down by passengers in a Pennsylvania field.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed on U.S. soil in the attack.
