President Joe Biden attacked GOP Sens. Rick Scott and Ron Johnson as well as "MAGA Republicans" at the White House during a celebratory event for the signing of the $740 billion Inflation Reduction Act.

"It's been a long time, frankly, since the American people have felt Washington's capable of doing big things to meet big challenges," Biden said during his speech at the event, which Vice President Kamala Harris attended. "Under former President Trump and MAGA Republicans, it was hard to blame them for feeling that way."

Biden went into campaign mode, expressing his opposition to some Republican senators who support requiring Congress to vote on reauthorizing Social Security and Medicare every five years.

"I want to remind you, you paid for your Social Security, every single paycheck from the time you're a kid," Biden said. "You paid for it."

"It's hard to believe. I would think I'm exaggerating, if I didn't look at it myself," he added, referring to Scott's proposal.

Biden said Johnson wants Congress to vote to reauthorize Social Security and Medicare each year.

"He thinks five years is too long to wait," he said. "He wants to put the vote of Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block every single year. These guys never give up. Well, guess what? We're not going to give up either."

Factcheck.org has labeled the claim that Scott wants to end Social Security or Medicare as misleading.
