As the situation in Ukraine escalates, President Joe Biden says he has "no plans" to speak to Vladimir Putin.

"I have no plans to talk to Putin," Biden said after a speech on Thursday at the White House about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

He also said that "no one" had expected the economic sanctions imposed against Russia to prevent the invasion of Ukraine.

Biden was asked if he is urging China to "help isolate" Russia.

"I am not prepared to comment on that at the moment," Biden said.

Biden also said the U.S. "would be involved" if Putin were to move into a NATO country.
