Biden suggested rebuilding Texas school shooting site, says state senator
"We're going to look to raze that school, build a new one,'" state Sen. Roland Gutierrez recalled Biden saying during his visit to Uvalde.
President Biden said he was going to look to rebuild Robb Elementary School, site of the recent mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, according to a state senator.
"He said, 'I'm not going away. I'm going to bring you resources. We're going to look to raze that school, build a new one,'" state Sen. Roland Gutierrez, who represents Uvalde, told the local news.
Biden visited the elementary school on Sunday.
Gutierrez said Biden offered to bring more mental health resources to the community during his visit.
"This is a community that is going to need therapy," said the state lawmaker. "There is one psychiatrist in Uvalde, very few mental health therapists. We're going to change that. It is a must"
Fox News pointed out that Sandy Hook Elementary School was replaced with a $50 million school on the same property in Newtown, Conn. A gunman shot and killed 26 people at the school in 2012.
