Biden to visit Alabama site for Lockheed Martin, makers of Javelin anti-tank missiles for Ukraine
The president's domestic travel schedule has been heating up in recent weeks.
President Biden is scheduled to travel to Alabama next week to visit a Lockheed Martin facility that is producing the Javelin anti-tank weapons systems that the U.S. has been sending to Ukraine, as the Eastern European nation continues to battle the Russian military.
Biden will travel to the deep red state Tuesday, amid Americans' concerns that he's not doing enough to help war-torn Ukraine and that he's yet to visit the country while European leaders have.
The trip to Alabama is being considered an effort by Biden to try to highlight his administration's foreign policy strategy.
As the midterm election gets into full swing, with a slate of primaries next month, Biden appears to have begun a more rigorous travel schedule, including recent stops in Iowa, New Hampshire, Oregon and Washington.
In recent weeks, the U.S. has sent significant additional military assistance to Ukraine, including billions of dollars in funding and advanced weapons.
Despite the aid packages, Americans do not seem to think the president has been tough enough on Russia.
A recent Associated Press-NORC poll found that 54% of them say Biden has not been "tough enough" on Russian President Vladimir Putin, as his unprovoked invasion of Ukraine stretches into its third month.
