Car smashes into presidential motorcade, Biden unhurt
Secret Service not commenting on incident, Biden whisked away to home.
President Joe Biden was whisked away to safety Sunday night after a car plowed into a parked Secret Service SUV that was guarding his motorcade in Delaware.
Biden was leaving his campaign headquarters when the incident occurred, and he and first lady Jill Biden were taken unharmed to their home, The Associated Press reported.
“While Biden was walking from the campaign office to his waiting armored SUV, a sedan hit a U.S. Secret Service vehicle that was being used to close off intersections near the headquarters for the president’s departure,” AP reported.
Authorities said the car tried to continue into a closed-off intersection, before Secret Service personnel surrounded it with weapons and the driver surrendered.
The Secret Service did not immediately further comment on the incident.
