Clooney contacted White House in defense of wife's work on ICC arrest warrants for Israel officials

According to the report from The Washington Post, Clooney was upset by the Biden administration potentially supporting sanctions for the ICC, given that it could open his wife to penalties.

Actor George Clooney reportedly called Steve Ricchetti, counselor to President’s Biden, in May to push back against the White House's complaints about the International Criminal Court (ICC) seeking arrest warrants for Israel officials including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. 

His wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, advised ICC prosecutor Karim Khan on the warrants.

According to the report from The Washington Post, Clooney was upset by the Biden administration potentially supporting sanctions for the ICC, given that it could open his wife to penalties.
