G7 leaders agree to a review and reform process for the WHO

During a videoconference meeting of the Group of Seven (G7) chaired by President Trump this morning, global leaders resolved to initiate a thorough review and reform process pertaining to their contributions to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The G7 nations contribute more than $1 billion annually the WHO, and are evidently concerned by the lack of transparency and alleged mismanagement of the pandemic by the organization.

The leaders also focused on continuing to jointly combat the global pandemic by sharing all relevant epidemiologic data and developing best practices. The G7 ministers will now work together to re-open several of the world’s most robust and powerful economies safely, and on the premise that potentially vulnerable supply chains will be re-evaluated.

President Trump earlier this week said the U.S. will stop funding the WHO.
