Grand Jury in Georgia ends probe of 2020 election interference, Trump's involvement

The special grand jury in Fulton County, Georgia, has finished investigating whether then-President Donald Trump and his allies committed any crimes while challenging the results of his 2020 election loss in the state, court documents published Monday show.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney dissolved the grand jury Monday via a court order obtained by CNN. He said a hearing will be held Jan. 24 about whether to publish the jury's final report.

Special grand juries are unable to issue indictments in Georgia, but the final report can recommend for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis to pursue charges in her election probe. She can then go to a regular grand jury to obtain indictments.

Willis said in November that some people being investigated will be sentenced to prison if they are indicted and convicted.
