Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders delivered the GOP rebuttal to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address, telling Americans she didn't believe the claims made during his speech and that the president was unfit to serve. "It's time for a change,” she declared.

In a symbolic contrast, Sanders, 40, is the youngest governor in the country and the first woman to serve as the leader of her state, while Biden, 80, is the oldest president in U.S. history.

"Being a mom to three young children taught me not to believe every story I hear," the former Trump White House press secretary said. "So forgive me for not believing much of anything I heard tonight from President Biden from out-of-control inflation and violent crime, to the dangerous border crisis and threat from China.

"Biden and the Democrats have failed you," she continued. "They know it, and you know it, and it's time for a change. Tonight, let us reaffirm our commitment to a timeless American idea that government exists not to rule the people, but to serve the people."

Sanders accused Democrats of wanting to "rule us with more government control, but that's not who we are. America is the greatest country the world has ever known. Because we're the freest country the world has ever known. We're the people who are strong and resilient."

She then shared her struggles with thyroid cancer, crediting her faith in God and competent doctors with her full recovery. Sanders also cited her mother's own battle with spinal cancer during her youth and how it affected her family, before celebrating the success of her mother having a daughter that doctors told her she would never have.

"Adversity and fear of the unknown can paralyze us, but faith propels us to charge boldly ahead," Sanders said. "We can't stand still in the face of great challenges."

She pointed out further contrasts between her and Biden, saying, "I'll be the first to admit President Biden and I don't have a lot in common. I'm for freedom. He's for government control. At 40, I'm the youngest governor in the country, and at 80 he's the oldest president in American history. I'm the first woman to lead my state and he's the first man to surrender his presidency to a woke mob that can't even tell you what a woman is.

"In the radical left America, Washington taxes you and light your heart and money on fire, but you get crushed with high gas prices. Empty grocery shelves, and our children are taught to hate one another by counted their race, but not to love one another or our great country. Whether Joe Biden believes this madness, or simply too weak to resist it, his administration has been completely hijacked by the radical left. The dividing line in America is no longer between right or left. The choice is between normal or crazy."

She then said that it was finally "time for a new generation of Republican leadership," and highlighted her administration's efforts to combat Critical Race Theory (CRT) school curriculum, repealing COVID-19 government orders –calling the mandates "authoritarian" – before stating that, "Americans want common sense from their leaders. But in Washington, the Biden administration is doubling down on crazy."

"President Biden inherited the fastest economic recovery on record the most secure border in history, cheap, abundant, homegrown and fast rising wages, a rebuilt military and a world that was stable and at peace," she said. "Over the last two years, Democrats destroyed it all. Despite Democrats trillions and reckless spending and mountains of debt. We now have the worst border crisis in American history."

In addition to economic and border security issues, Sanders criticized Biden's leadership regarding opioid and Fentanyl issues including drugs pouring into the country and killing young people.

"The Biden administration refuses to secure the border and save American lives and after years of Democrat attacks on law enforcement in calls to defund the police," she said. "Violent criminals roam free, while law abiding families live in fear."

She also took issue with Biden's apparent "refusal to stand up to China, our most formidable adversary," calling his stance on the issue, "unacceptable" and his temperament as "unfit to serve as commander-in-chief."

"The Biden administration seems more interested in woke fantasies than the hard reality Americans face every day," she said. "Most Americans simply want to live their lives in freedom and peace. But we are under attack from a left wing cultural war we didn't start, never wanted to fight."

Education also was a centerpiece of her rebuttal, as she called for school choice and announced she would be releasing her own state-based education plan to improve the "access" to knowledge needed to succeed in the real world.

"It's time for a new generation to lead," Sanders added. "This is our moment. This is our opportunity."
