Jimmy Carter attends Peanut Festival days before 99th birthday, six months after entering hospice
Jimmy Carter, who entered hospice care in February, turns 99 on Oct. 1.
Former President Jimmy Carter, who is set to turn 99 years old in a week after entering hospice in February, was spotted with his wife, former first lady Rosalynn Carter, attending the Peanut Festival in the former president's hometown of Plains, Georgia.
A video surfaced online showing the Carters riding in an SUV in the festival's parade Saturday.
"Can y’all see who is in this car? God Bless Former President Jimmy Carter and Former First Lady Carter," a user wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in a post with a video of the Carters.
"Beautiful day for President & Mrs. Carter to enjoy a ride through the Plains Peanut Festival!" the Carter Center responded to the user. "And just a week before he turns 99. We’re betting peanut butter ice cream is on the menu for lunch!"
Jimmy Carter, who entered hospice care in February, turns 99 on Oct. 1. Rosalynn Carter, 96, was diagnosed with dementia in May. The Carters have continued to live at their Georgia home.
