Jimmy Carter state funeral set for Jan. 9, Biden says
Carter was America’s 39th and longest living president.
President Joe Biden on Sunday night scheduled a state funeral in Washington on Jan. 9 for former President Jimmy Carter.
Biden also declared Jan. 9 as a National Day of Mourning across the U.S.
Carter, a peanut farmer who became the longest-living president, died Sunday at his home in Plains, Georgia at the age of 100.
Biden also ordered U.S. flags to fly at half-staff for 30 days beginning Sunday.
