Guidance inadvertently sent by White House required masks for unvaccinated at 'College Athlete Day'
The federal government has already terminated the national emergency declaration for the COVID-19 pandemic.
The White House sent out guidance requiring those who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to wear masks and socially distance for "College Athlete Day." But later they said it had been sent out inadvertently.
The Biden administration invited NCAA men's and women's national championship teams from Divisions I, II and III to come to the White House on Monday to celebrate their victories in sports.
But the federal government has already terminated the national emergency declaration for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fox News reports that earlier this week, the White House Office of Legislative Affairs sent out an email to members of Congress, inviting them to the event.
The email, obtained by Fox Digital, stated that while guests aren't required to be vaccinated against COVID-19, they have to wear masks and socially distance if they aren't vaccinated.
"Guests who are not fully vaccinated must wear a mask at all times and maintain at least 6 feet distance from others while on the White House grounds," the email reads.
But later in the week, the White House told Fox News Digital that the guidance in the email had been sent inadvertently and was out of date, according to the outlet. A White House spokesperson said they might be sending out another email before Monday's event with the up-to-date guidance.
