President Joe Biden canceled his plans to visit his home in Delaware and will now stay in Washington, D.C., this weekend.

The Delaware trip for President's Day weekend was added to Biden's schedule Sunday afternoon at 2:41 p.m., CNBC reported. He was set to leave for Delaware at 5:00 p.m.

The last-minute trip was cancelled just over an hour after it was announced.

It is uncommon for the U.S. president's travel schedule to chance so quickly, especially when it involves leaving D.C., CNBC stated.

The White House stated that Biden "had a family-related issue that was going to take him to Wilmington, DE, tonight but he will no longer be going and will remain in Washington, DC tonight."

Biden met with members of the National Security Council on Sunday to "to discuss the latest developments regarding Russia’s military buildup on the borders of Ukraine," but the White House Briefing Room did not elaborate further on the details of the meeting.

Biden has been criticized for his frequent weekend trips to Delaware throughout his presidency.

Last week, a senior administration official stated that despite the Kremlin's promise to send troops near the Ukranian border back to their bases, more than 7,000 additional Russian troops were deployed to the area. About 150,000 Russian troops are currently estimated to be stationed near the Ukranian border.
