President-elect Donald Trump traveled to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday to visit the White House to meet with President Biden for the traditional transition-of-power meeting and to Capitol Hill to meet with fellow Republicans who during last week's elections retained control of the House.

"If you can work with one, you can work with anything," Trump told the House Republican Conference about having perhaps only one or two more members than Democrats when all 435 races are decided. "We won in every way, all seven swing states."

Following his trip to Capitol Hill, Trump went to the White House where he me privately with President Biden. The two later came out and sat side by side, then shook hands before the cameras.

"Congratulations," Biden.

"Politics in tough," Trump said.

The meeting was largely a formality between the two political rivals –Trump lost his 2020 reelection bid to Biden. And Biden, who this past summer dropped out of the presidential race, has been outspoken about his opposition to Trump running the country again.

The House Republican Conference is set to vote later today on its leadership team, with Speaker Mike Johnson, a Trump supporter, expected to retain the post. Johnson won the post in January in a contentious intra-chamber battle that included the conference's most conservative wing and that resulted in the ouster of then-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.

Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, is expected have an easier time Wednesday, considering he has Trump's back, with the GOP controlling the White House, the Senate and the House.

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, who will be part of the second Trump administration, will reported go to Capitol Hill with Trump.
