Trump says he plans to announce 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports on Monday
Trump also told reporters he would make an announcement on reciprocal tariffs on Tuesday or Wednesday.
President Donald Trump said on Sunday that he plans to announce on Monday that he is imposing a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports into the United States.
"We’ll also be announcing steel tariffs on Monday," he told reporters on Air Force One Sunday.
"Any steel coming into the United States is going to have a 25% tariff," Trump said, adding that aluminum imports would also have the same tariff.
On Friday, Trump said he is considering new reciprocal tariffs to match the tariffs other countries impose on U.S. imports.
Trump told reporters the reciprocal tariffs announcement would take place on Tuesday or Wednesday.
“Very simply, it’s if they charge us, we charge them,” Trump said.
