President Donald Trump posted Saturday that Israel has agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” in Gaza, a move he says is central to a proposed ceasefire and hostage-exchange deal pending Hamas’ confirmation.

In a message on Truth Social, Trump declared:

“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to, and shared with, Hamas. When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal."

Trump described the agreement as a historic moment, describing the conflict in the region as a “3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE” and signaling that this step could bring it closer to an end. 

He also said that Israel would maintain control over key strategic areas while a phased pullback takes place.
