President Donald Trump signaled Friday night an upcoming end to the United States' involvement in the conflict with Iran, stating the U.S. is "very close" to meeting its objectives.

The U.S. and Israel began a weeks-long conflict against Iran late last month, which resulted in the death of former Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran has retaliated by hitting U.S. bases in the Middle East and attacking Israel.

Trump said in a Truth Social post that the United States is considering winding down its involvement in the regional conflict because the U.S. has completely degraded Iran's "Missile Capability, Launchers, and everything else pertaining to them."

The president also noted that the U.S. has destroyed Iran's Defense Industrial Base, eliminated its Navy and Air Force, prevented it from getting nuclear capabilities and is protecting U.S. allies in the region, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump additionally urged Middle Eastern countries to protect the Strait of Hormuz, which the Iranians effectively closed by targeting civilian oil tankers attempting to navigate the crucial waterway.

"The Hormuz Strait will have to be guarded and policed, as necessary, by other Nations who use it — The United States does not," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "If asked, we will help these Countries in their Hormuz efforts, but it shouldn’t be necessary once Iran’s threat is eradicated. Importantly, it will be an easy Military Operation for them."

The comment comes after Trump scolded European allies for refusing to help the U.S. reopen the Strait, despite Europe supporting U.S. and Israeli attacks on the Iranian regime and the U.S. preventing the regime from getting nuclear weapons.

"I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO [...] to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need," Trump said Monday. "Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military."
