U.S. Secret Service looking into reports of gunfire near White House

The gunfire was reported in the vicinity of Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House.

The U.S. Secret Service is working with the District of Columbia police and U.S. Park Service to investigate reports of gunfire near the White House. 

The reports came shortly after midnight Sunday, according to a post on X by Anthony Guglielmi, chief of communications for the U.S. Secret Service. Officers responded to the reports, which occurred in the vicinty of Lafayette Park, Guglielmi said. 

Officers conducted a thorough search of the park and the surrounding area, and no suspect was located. No one was reported injured in the incident.
