Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday met with India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi while on a trip to Paris for a European AI summit, where the pair discussed the U.S. helping India diversify its energy sourcing.
The White House announced the meeting in a statement, stating the pair had met for coffee along with the vice president's wife Usha Vance. The meeting also occurred on Vance's son's, Vivek Vance's, birthday.
"The two leaders, along with the Second Lady of the United States Usha Vance, enjoyed coffee together and discussed topics of mutual interest, including how the United States can assist India in diversifying its energy sourcing through investments in clean, reliable U.S. nuclear technology," the White House said.
The meeting comes just two days before Modi is expected to meet President Donald Trump at the White House. The prime minister is expected to arrive in the U.S. on Wednesday, and meet with Trump on Thursday.
