White House announces strategy to combat Islamophobia in US
The administration plans to work with local communities on this strategy.
The White House has announced a national strategy to combat "Islamophobia" in the United States.
“President Biden ran for office to restore the soul of our nation. He is unequivocal: There is no place for hate in America against anyone. Period,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre wrote in a statement Wednesday.
The strategy will be led by the National Security Council and the Domestic Policy Council to protect Muslims from "discrimination, hate, bigotry, and violence,” said a White House official, according to CNN.
The Oct. 7 terror attacks on Israel by the Palestinian-affiliated militant group Hamas has resulted in a wave of attacks on Muslims and Jews in America.
The administration also plans to work with local communities on this strategy.
