The White House Correspondents' Association canceled its scheduled plan to have comedian Amber Ruffin headline the annual fundraising dinner in Washington, D.C. next month.

“The WHCA board has unanimously decided we are no longer featuring a comedic performance this year. At this consequential moment for journalism, I want to ensure the focus is not on the politics of division but entirely on awarding our colleagues for their outstanding work and providing scholarship and mentorship to the next generation of journalists," said Eugene Daniels in a memo to members.

President Trump did not attend the annual dinner during his first term. Former President Biden attended each year as did former President Obama.

Last year’s entertainer was comedian Colin Jost.
