White House says Biden will not pardon Hunter
Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges on Wednesday and admit to a gun charge that could later be dismissed.
The White House on Thursday denied that President Joe Biden would pardon his son following the collapse of a plea agreement between Hunter Biden and federal prosecutors on Wednesday.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded "no" during a press briefing on Thursday when asked about the possibility of Biden pardoning his son, The Hill reported.
"I just said no," she asserted in response to a follow-up question from that reporter.
Hunter Biden was expected to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges on Wednesday and admit to a gun charge that could later be dismissed.
The judge took exception to the pretrial diversion program for the gun charge and delayed her approval of the deal amid concerns over its constitutionality.
The first son ended up pleading not guilty.
