Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-N.J., leader of the Blue Dog Coalition and member of the House Intelligence Committee, accused the Democrat Socialists of America of trying to "hijack" the Democratic Party as a means toward advancing their "anti-American" platform. 

Gottheimer told Fox News on Sunday that DSA is "not Democrats," and their platform is incompatible with the Democratic Party's. 

"Obviously, I'm a very proud, commonsense Democrat, and I don't think DSA members are Democrats. They're socialists, right? And I'm all for them having their own party if they want one, but if they're trying to take over our party, that's unacceptable to me," Guttheimer said on "The Big Weekend Show." 

He pointed out the group has expressed support for the Communist Manifesto at their conventions, and said they're anti-American, anti-cop and anti-national borders.
