Police in Houma, Louisiana, are searching for a 47-year-old man identified as a person of interest after a series of stabbing incidents left four people dead and a child critically injured on Saturday night.

Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office were initially called to the area of Ashland Drive, where they found a wounded juvenile. The child was taken to a hospital with what authorities described as severe injuries and remained in critical condition, according to reports.

As investigators kept searching the surrounding area, they discovered four people dead inside nearby homes. Officials have not yet released the victims’ identities or said whether the victims knew each other. 

According to reporting from the New York Post, investigators have identified Kaegan Jude Solet as a person of interest in the case. 

Authorities have not announced an arrest or criminal charges against him in connection with the latest deaths.

Solet has previously faced serious allegations involving knife attacks in Terrebonne Parish. In 2019, he was arrested in connection with the stabbing of a woman at a Houma motel. He was later acquitted of the attempted murder charge, according to reports.

Earlier that same year, Solet was also accused of the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Houma. A grand jury ultimately declined to indict him, citing insufficient evidence at the time.
