The United States Central Command said Friday night that American forces successfully shot down four Iranian drones that were heading toward the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf.

The brief military action occurred during the U.S.' ceasefire with Iran, which the U.S. has maintained is still in effect despite Iranian drone operations in the region.

"The attack drones posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic," CENTCOM said on X. "U.S. forces subsequently struck Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further attacks.

"American forces remain vigilant and postured to respond to unjustified Iranian aggression in self-defense," it added.

It comes after the U.S. also defended itself against aggressive Iranian behavior on Tuesday and countered with self-defense strikes on Qeshm Island. The Iranian strikes Tuesday were launched toward Bahrain and Kuwait but failed to hit their targets.
