The Ukrainian military has reportedly run out of missiles for the Patriot air-defense system, a critical American-made piece of military hardware that has bolstered the country's defense against Moscow.

CNN reported the development on Thursday, citing a "source familiar with the situation."

The U.S. had supplied Ukraine with both the launchers and munitions for years, but shipments slowly ground to a halt. While President Donald Trump had expressed openness to granting Ukraine a license to make Patriot missiles domestically earlier this year, the U.S. has yet to formally issue one.

The ongoing conflict in Iran has prompted concerns of the U.S. depleting its own supply of key munitions and the Ukrainian shortfall comes amid a public row between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky over the targeting of Russian energy facilities.

In a bid to stabilize markets, Trump announced a deal with Russia this month to inject diesel into the global supply, despite sanctions against Moscow. The president also pressured Zelensky to refrain from striking Russian refineries.

But Zelensky on Thursday said that the country would not abide by an energy ceasefire. His decision follows Ukraine reporting outages and limitations on Starlink and Starshield, critical products from SpaceX that Ukraine has used to coordinate their military throughout the war.
