Former President Barack Obama criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to bar CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House, saying he could not imagine taking a similar step during his presidency.

Speaking at Colgate University, Obama questioned what the reaction would have been if his administration had blocked Fox News from accessing the White House.

“My imagination could not foresee some of the stuff that’s going on right now,” Obama said. “I’m trying to think what would have happened if I had said, you know what, Fox News, you’re out of here.”

In 2009, the Obama administration tried to exclude Fox News from a joint multi-network press pool interview with Kenneth Feinberg, the Treasury Department's "pay czar" for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), according to past reports. The administration ultimately abandoned the plan when other networks defended the inclusion of Fox.
