A 6-foot, 5-inch bronze-painted sculpture of Charlie Kirk was unveiled on the back of a truck in New York City's Times Square on Wednesday. 

The statue shows a seated Kirk holding a microphone and wearing a T-shirt with the word "Freedom" on it. The artist, Sergio Furnari, funded the tribute with $100,000 of his own money, Fox News reported. 

Furari has launched an online fundraiser to recoup the costs of the project. 

The statue was driven in the back of a truck, and supporters were heckled when they stopped Wednesday afternoon, The U.S. Sun reported. 

Tensions boiled over, and videos of the encounter show the two sides clashing.
