Starbucks announced on Friday that the coffee shop chain will lay off 300 employees in its corporate offices. The company also plans to close some regional support offices.

The layoffs won't impact coffeehouse employees, CNBC reported

The move is part of the company's ongoing turnaround. Severance costs and reassessment of its office space will cost the company $400 million in restructuring charges.

A Starbucks spokesperson told CNBC that the layoffs are part of the company's "Back to Starbucks" strategy that is aimed at making it more durable and spurring profit growth.

The latest layoffs are the third round since CEO Brian Niccol came into his position.
