Iran executed three men Sunday who were convicted of allegedly working with Israel and the United States during anti-government demonstrations in January, according to Iranian state media.

Hassan Dioband, Hamid Kazemi and Reza Zanganeh were put to death after Iran’s Supreme Court upheld their death sentences, the judiciary said.

Authorities accused the men of taking part in armed attacks in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran, including using firearms, grenades and Molotov cocktails to attack public facilities. They were also accused of damaging an electrical substation, resulting in power outages in parts of the city.

The executions are part of a broader crackdown on individuals arrested in connection with January’s demonstrations. Eight other defendants in the case received prison sentences ranging from five to 10 years, according to the judiciary.
