Tropical Storm Isaias forms in Gulf, forecast to become first hurricane of Atlantic season
Early projections have the storm making landfall between eastern Louisiana and the western Florida Panhandle
Tropical Storm Isaias formed in the Gulf of America early Wednesday morning and is forecast to become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season.
The storm, now in the warm waters off eastern Mexico, is also projected to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast later this week. Early projections have the storm making landfall between eastern Louisiana and the western Florida Panhandle, according to the Associated Press.
“There is an increasing risk of dangerous wind and storm surge impacts along portions of the northern Gulf Coast,” the National Hurricane Center said.
“Residents from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle should closely monitor the latest forecast updates and ensure they have their hurricane plan in place.”
