Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., confirmed that conservative commentator Tucker Carlson would not run for president, after the pair appeared with other disaffected ex-Trump allies and vowed to create a new movement.

Carlson has attracted attention as a potential presidential candidate for years, though he has not indicated any serious interest. Though traditionally regarded as a conservative firebrand, he has become increasingly critical of the Republicans over their penchant for foreign adventurism.

Greene spoke to Politico over the weekend, saying that their nascent movement had attracted considerable attention from donors and would-be supporters, but insisted Carlson was not planning a White House bid.

“Tucker, he’s not running for president,” she said. “He said that publicly. He said that privately.”

Greene also rejected the prospect of running for the office herself, but insisted “[t]he support is overwhelming" for their movement as a whole.

Other prominent figures aligned with Greene and Carlson include Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., who lost his primary to a Trump-backed opponent, and Joe Kent, the former National Counterrorism Center chief who left office over the Iran war.
