Trump calls to prosecute Vindman after Florida Senate primary loss
Vindman had been expected to decisively defeat state Sen. Angie Nixon, D-Fla., for the nomination, but unexpectedly lost by double-digits on Tuesday evening.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for the prosecution of Alex Vindman after he lost the Florida Democratic Primary for Senate on Tuesday evening.
Vindman had been expected to decisively defeat state Sen. Angie Nixon, D-Fla., for the nomination, but unexpectedly lost by double-digits on Tuesday evening. Trump, for his part, gloated over the loss of his adversary and suggested he ought to face consequences for his role in the first impeachment.
"The most gratifying loss last night was that of a real treasonous creep, Alexander Vindman, to a Radical Left Lunatic, who can’t speak or think properly, and who will go down to certain defeat at the hands of Ashley Moody, a truly Fantastic Senator, from the Great State Florida," he posted on Truth Social. "Vindman, if you remember, was the one who lied about my 'Perfect Call' with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, only to find out that the conversation was routinely recorded and proved that I was 100% in the right (Completely Innocent!)."
"It was, indeed, a Perfect Call, and the Dumocrats Fake Impeachment effort massively failed. Vindman should be prosecuted for what he did!" he added.
Vindman was the original whistleblower in the first impeachment attempt on Trump. He raised concerns over Trump's phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which he said Trump appeared to suggest that he would withhold aid from the country unless Zelensky investigated the Biden family.
Trump was acquitted by the Senate.
