Voters are headed to the polls on Tuesday to decide not just control of the House and Senate, but the outcome of key ballot initiatives on marquis issues for Democrats and Republicans across the country.

Those issues include a proposed billionaires tax in California, income tax reform, redistricting plans, and abortion measures.

Abortion is very much on the ballot, with 145 proposed laws related to the practice subject to voter approval on Tuesday evening, according to the Associated Press. Among the most noteworthy is a referendum in Misosuri that would reverse a prior referendum that ended a statewide ban. The new vote would allow for exemptions in the case of rape or incest.

The redistricting wars remain in full swing. After the Supreme Court shut down race-based congressional districts in a dispute over the Voting Rights Act, lawmakers across the South redrew their district lines in ways that generally benefited Republicans. Some states, notably Maryland, have floated amendments to redraw their maps to counter Republican gains.

In California alone, tax reform is a hot-button issue, with a proposed billionaire's tax facing the voters. Such a measure would be a major boon to progressive lawmakers, though the state already faces an exodus of high income earners.
