A drone strike targeting infrastructure connected to the United Arab Emirates’ civilian nuclear energy program was designed as a warning to Abu Dhabi, according to two sources familiar with the incident.

The attack was focused on a supplier linked to the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, which is the UAE’s flagship nuclear facility that provides a significant share of the country’s electricity needs.

The Jerusalem Post reported that the operation was carefully calibrated to avoid a direct hit on the reactor itself while still showing the vulnerability of the broader energy network surrounding the plant.
