U.S. forces operating Wednesday in the Gulf of Oman fired upon an empty Iranian-flagged oil tanker attempting to reach an Iranian port through a U.S. blockade, according to U.S. Central Command.

The forces spotted the vessel in international waters en route to the port in the Gulf of Oman and issued multiple warnings to the unresponsive crew about operating in violation of the blockade before firing into the vessel's rudder from a Navy jet, CENTCOM said in a report.

"Hasna is no longer transiting to Iran," CENTCOM also said.

The incident follows President Trump and Marco Rubio in roughly the past 24 hours saying the U.S. has ended strikes on Iran and is no longer guiding ships through the Strait of Hormuz, the oil shipping channel on which Iran has a border.
