Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon resigned on Thursday.
Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed her resignation in a social media post, saying "[t]he Department is grateful for her dedicated public service, and we wish her every success in her future endeavors."
Her resignation follows major Republican defeats in the House and Senate and amid expected shake ups in personnel at the top levels of the Trump administration.
During her tenure, she oversaw a litany of lawsuits, many of which targeted universities over their admissions practices and policies on antisemitism.
Prior to serving in the DOJ, she mounted an unsuccessful bid in 2022-2023 to lead the Republican National Committee (RNC), but lost out to Ronna McDaniel.
