The FBI is investigating a report that tens of millions of drivers' licenses were being sold on the dark web. 

Independent journalist Brian Krebs reported Tuesday that he'd discovered the dark website where the digital scans of the stolen divers' licenses from people in the United States and Canada were being sold. Krebs claims that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other high-ranking federal government officials are among the licenses available for sale. 

On Wednesday, the FBI said it was "looking into the incident," but could not comment further while the matter is being investigated, Reuters reported. 

Krebs said that he had discovered the site after it was advertised on a Russian cybercrime forum, with his own drivers' license being offered as a free sample. The site appeared to be updating its database in real time, Krebs said.
