The man accused of ramming his car into a crowd in Munich in 2025 last year, which killed two people including a two-year-old girl, was convicted Thursday of charges including murder and sentenced to life in prison. 

The 25-year-old Afghan man, who is identified only as Farhad N. under Germany's strict privacy rules, was arrested after the Feb. 13, 2025, attack on a labor union demonstration in Munich. It was one of several attacks involving immigrants. 

The suspect was convicted on two counts of murder and 23 counts of attempted murder, the Associated Press reported, citing German news media. The court ruled that Farhad N. carries "particularly serious" guilt, meaning he won't be eligible for release in 15 years, as applies to most cases in Germany. 

The court found that he carried out the attack in order to prove himself to be a "good Muslim." Besides the two people that were killed in the attack, 44 others suffered life-threatening or serious injuries, according to authorities.
