Police in a Chicago suburb responded to a bomb threat at the home of Pope Leo XIV's brother on Wednesday night.

The New Lenox Police Department said in a statement that there was a threat to the home, but that after a search, the threat was deemed unsubstantiated.

"The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the origin of the report,” the department said. “Making false reports of this nature is a serious offense and may result in criminal charges.”

Earlier this week, President Donald Trump praised Louis Prevost, the pope's brother, in a Truth Social post for being a loyal supporter. The post came amid a public spat between the American president and the head of the Catholic Church over the U.S. war against Iran.

“Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!” Trump said in the post. “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.”
