Russell Brand has been found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault in the U.K.

Brand was acquitted of two additional rape charges and a charge of attempted indecent assault. He has denied all charges, Fox News reported.

Six women accused Brand, 51, of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of attempted indecent assault in incidents that they say occurred between 1999 and 2009.

Brand said that he had been "reckless" and used his fame to pursue sexual relationships, but he insisted the encounters were consensual, Sky News reported.

He testified in court that “consent is a fundamental, essential and necessary, and in many ways more important than sex itself," Variety reported.
