NASA clears Artemis II crew to break from Earth's orbit and head for the moon
The Orion space capsule lifted out of Florida's Kennedy Space Center Wednesday night, marking the start of the first lunar mission in over 50 years. The last time the United States sent people to the moon was in the Apollo missions that ended in 1972.

Launch director Charlie Blackwell-Thompson told the Artemis crew that “the hopes and dreams of a new generation," are with them as they aim to reach a greater distance from Earth than anyone has before.

NASA investigates potential battery issue ahead of lunar launch
Engineers are working to determine whether the issue was with a sensor or a battery itself, after one of the two batteries for the launch abort system was "out of temperature range."
