Trump endorses Mike Mazzei in Oklahoma governor race, blasts challenger as 'fake Republican'
Mazzei and Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond advanced to the runoff on Tuesday night for the Republican nomination for governor. Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt is restricted by term limits and cannot seek reelection.
President Donald Trump made an endorsement Thursday night in Oklahoma's Republican gubernatorial runoff, praising former state Sen. Mike Mazzei as a "MAGA warrior," and slamming his opponent as a "fake Republican."
Mazzei and Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond advanced to the runoff on Tuesday night for the Republican nomination for governor. Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt is restricted by term limits and cannot seek reelection.
"MAGA Warrior Mike Mazzei is running for Governor in Oklahoma, where I was the only president to win all 77 Counties in three straight elections," Trump posted on Truth Social. "Additionally, I won more votes than any Candidate in the State’s History! I love Oklahoma, and Mike has my complete and total endorsement for Governor! Meanwhile, his Runoff Election Opponent, Gentner Drummond, is a FAKE Republican."
The president claimed Drummond previously donated to former President Joe Biden and the Lincoln Project, which Trump said made him a "Radical Left Dumocrat."
"Gentner Drummond has also stated publicly he had 'no opinion' on the bogus impeachment of a gentleman named, President Donald J. Trump," he wrote. "All Republicans feel the opposite on the Dumocrat inspired impeachment hoax.
"Drummond is not the right guy, he’s got a bad attitude, and he doesn’t stand for the Values of Oklahoma, which must vote 'Mike Mazzei' for governor on August 25th," Trump added. "He will never let you down."
