The General Services Administration on Tuesday announced that it had found more than $13 billion in suspected fraud by federal contractors since March.

The discovery comes as part of the agency's work with the White House task force on fraud led by Vice President JD Vance.

“Let this serve as a warning to any bad actors thinking of stealing from the federal government: we will catch you, we will work with law enforcement to ensure your arrest, and we will do everything in our power to help recover every dollar you stole,” GSA Administration Edward Forst said in a statement.

Much of the $13 billion stemmed from acts of procurement fraud, according to Breitbart News. Some of the cases involved the use of smaller businesses as conduits for obtaining funds that the perpetrating firm was not eligible for.

President Donald Trump declared Vance his "fraud czar" earlier this year and tasked him with coordinating with federal agencies to identify misuse of public funds.

Since then, the task force has announced a litany of fraud busts, spanning multiple agencies. According to the White House fraud tracking website, the task force has identified roughly $250 billion in public funds fraud.
