House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries on Wednesday gloated over his party's victory in the midterm elections by taking a jab at House Speaker Mike Johnson, who had argued ahead of time that the polls were overestimating Democrats.

“Mike Johnson was correct. The polls were wrong,” Jeffries said, according to The Hill. “It wasn’t simply a blue wave; it was an American tsunami.”

Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress in a landslide on Tuesday evening, marking a clear rebuke of GOP governance.

Polling had expected Democrats to win, but Republicans have typically over performed polling in the Trump era. Johnson had leaned into this argument after revelations that at least one pollster that received attention this cycle, Wedgewood Polls, was an elaborate hoax.
