Trump cancels weekend rally in Kansas to instead hold virtual campaign events
Marshall faces an unexpectedly tough reelection bid in a traditionally Republican-leaning state.
President Donald Trump on Thursday canceled a planned reelection campaign event this weekend with Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall, opting instead to host a string of tele-rallies.
“President Trump will continue connecting directly with Americans nationwide through more than 20 telerallies before Election Day,” an official told CNN. “Telerallies give him the opportunity to highlight his accomplishments and expand his reach across the country. Republican candidates want him to come to their districts and holding telerallies allows him to cover more ground.”
Candidates across the country will make their final closing arguments this weekend, with Election Day on Tuesday.
Marshall is among several GOP incumbent senators facing a tough reelection bid in a traditionally Republican-leaning state. In Texas, state Attorney General Ken Paxton is trailing Democratic nominee James Talarico.
