President Donald Trump on Wednesday spoke to reporters at the construction site of the White House ballroom to celebrate the success of the project, one day after a major midnight loss.

"We're ahead of schedule. We're under budget. The whole thing is a miracle and it's all because of you," he said, referring to the construction workers.

The ballroom is a passion project for Trump and has attracted numerous lawsuits and headlines amid his efforts to revamp the nation's capital.

Trump made the remarks after Republicans took major losses in the House and Senate on Tuesday night. Commenters online appeared incredulous that the project merited Trump's time in the wake of the midterm defeats.
