Israeli president accepts certified results in blow to Netanyahu's claims Arabs stole election
Netanyahu’s Likud party has argued that Arab-led parties "stole" the elections in which Netanyahu's bloc lost its majority of seats in parliament.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday officially accepted the certified results of last week's parliamentary elections.
The acceptance of the results as legally valid weakens Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's efforts to question the results, the Associated Press reported.
Netanyahu’s Likud party has argued that Arab-led parties "stole" the elections in which Netanyahu's bloc lost its majority of seats in parliament.
The party has cited cases, including the arrests of three political activists before polls opened on Oct. 27 with envelopes of cash, which Likud said were to bribe voters. Two days later, police arrested four more suspects, who police said were connected to the Islamist party Ra’am, which denied that it was involved.
