The election is on Tuesday, however, and it remains unclear whether El-Sayed will be effectively able to deploy those funds.

The campaign for Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed says it raised $1.2 million Sunday just hours after former primary rival fellow Democrat Rep. Haley Stevens endorsed GOP nominee Mike Rogers.

Rogers and El-Sayed are locked in one of the closest contests of the midterm cycle. Stevens supported Ei-Sayed for most of the general election campaign, before abruptly endorsing Rogers, sparking outrage from fellow Democrats including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

The New York lawmaker, who supported Stevens in the primary, called her eleventh-hour endorsement change a “despicable betrayal.” In addition, several members of Stevens’s official staff resigned in protest.

The amount of money the El-Sayed campaign reportedly raised is being reported by Politico.
